Replacement Coils: The Part That Wears Out.

Everything else lasts. This does not.

A coil is the one component in a refillable setup you buy repeatedly, and keeping a spare pack on hand is the difference between a good day and a burnt one.

Finding the Right Coil

Coils are not interchangeable between devices.

Each tank or pod takes a specific coil family, printed on the coil itself and on the box. A SMOK Nord coil will not fit a Vaporesso tank. Check the device name and the coil series before ordering.

Understanding Resistance

The ohm rating tells you how the coil will behave.

Coils above 1.0 ohm run at low wattage, give a tighter cigarette-like draw, and suit nic salts in pod devices. Sub-ohm coils below 1.0 ohm run hotter, produce far more vapor, and suit lower-nicotine freebase juice in a mod.

Mesh or Wire?

Mesh heats more evenly.

Mesh coils use a perforated strip rather than a wrapped wire, spreading heat across a larger surface. They tend to deliver better flavor and last longer. Traditional wrapped coils remain common in MTL setups and are usually cheaper.

Priming a New Coil

Two minutes now saves a coil later.

Drip a few drops of e-liquid directly onto the exposed wicking, fill the tank, then let it sit for five to ten minutes before your first draw. Start at the lower end of the printed wattage range and work up.

When to Replace It

Your tongue will tell you before anything else does.

A burnt or muted taste, reduced vapor, or a gurgling sound all point to a spent coil. Sweet dessert flavors and high-VG juice shorten coil life, so heavy use of either means changing more often.
